Ways To Save maney In 2010

Making a commitment to save money in 2010 is the rare New Year's resolution that is easy to keep.

After a turbulent economic year, it's a popular one, too. A December survey from financial service firm Edward Jones found saving more money next year is the top resolution for that a third of consumers.

Try these 10 strategies for significant savings:

1. Pick a friendlier credit card

Credit Cards"Being on the wrong card can cost people thousands more a year in interest rates and fees," says Schwark Satyavolu, a co-founder of comparison tool BillShrink.com. "Even if you pay off the balance in full each month, you could be leaving hundreds of dollars on the table in rewards." Terms and conditions are changing rapidly as banks add fees and jack up interest rates in preparation for the new federal regulations that go into effect on Feb. 22. After that date, compare your options using a site like BillShrink.com or CardRatings.com to make sure you have the best card for your financial situation and spending habits.

2. Track your cash

Shoppers can't account for an average $21 spent each week, according to a September survey by Visa (V). Tallied up, that's $1,092 per year in mystery purchases. Sign up for a free financial management site like Mint.com or Wesabe.com, which sync with your bank accounts to automatically sort and track purchases. You can also set budgets for individual categories, and receive email or text alerts when your spending nears that pre-set limit. There are plenty of sites out there, so use our guide to find the right one for you.
Cash Track

3. Join loyalty clubs

Retailers offer benefits in loyalty programs, knowing that most customers are apt to forget their cards or otherwise miss out on perks, says Larry Chiagouris, a marketing professor at Pace University in New York City. Don't make that mistake: Keep cards in your wallet or on a key-ring, or add the account numbers to your smartphone. Loyalty programs can cover varied purchases, including books, movie theater excursions, restaurant meals and even flu shots.

4. Hunt for coupon codes

The marketing strategy of offering coupon codes to cement customer loyalty is increasingly popular with retailers. Take advantage. Step 1: Type a retailer's name and "code" into Google. Step 2: Use the results to save significantly on your in-store and online purchases. (Headphone maker Skullcandy, for example, recently offered code FROSTY50 for shoppers to save 50% on its products at checkout.) Bookmark our list of all-around favorite coupon sites here. We also have lists for parents, and for saving on groceries, clothing and electronics.

5. Shop the grocery sales circular

Though many products on circulars only come up on sale once every 10 to 12 weeks, by shopping smart, you can still cut your bill by more than 50% with a combination of coupons, weekly grocery store sales and store rebates. "They'll practically pay you to take that bag of potato chips out of the store," says Cindy Chapman, a spokeswoman for social networking site MomsLikeMe.com.

6. Pay cash

Buy-now-pay-later of credit cards sound friendly, but are designed to entice you to spend more. A 2008 study by researchers at the University of Toronto and the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City found that the opportunity to earn rewards led more consumers to pay by credit, even if they were already carrying a balance. Instead, flash bills. It will keep you in check and might also lead to discounts on everything from health care to jewelry to gasoline.

7. Reassess your phone plan

Carriers constantly offer new plans and promotions -- which may mean a better deal than your current selection. Use tools at LetsTalk.com and BillShrink.com to compare available options against your current plan. Infrequent talkers (fewer than 200 minutes a month) may save more in the long run by paying an early-termination fee and switching to prepaid service.

8. Cut spending on pets

dogtoyThe fuzziest members of your family need to adhere to the household budget, too. In 2008, pet owners spent an average $670 per dog and $447 per cat on vet care, food, grooming, treats and toys, according to the American Pet Products Association. Pay less by shopping around. Petco offers its signature plush dog toy for $5.97, while Wal-Mart has a three-pack of a similar toy for $7 -- roughly $2.33 apiece.

9. Haggle

"When times get tough, consumers have to get aggressive," says Scott Testa, an assistant professor of business administration at Calibri College in Radnor, Pa. "On a high-priced item, you're crazy if you don't haggle." It doesn't take a hard-line negotiation in most cases, either – you just have to ask if there's any chance for a better price, he says. For example, 68% of landlords said they would lower rents or give a month or more free to retain tenants, according to a recent Rent.com survey.

10. Seal up your home
Don't let the air you're paying to warm in the winter and cool in the summer escape through cracks around windows, doors, electrical outlets and other places. Enough sealing products like caulk and weather-stripping to block drafts would set you back just $25 to $50. In return, you'll see your home's energy efficiency improve by up to 20%, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. For the average household, that could amount to more than $400 annually.

Hack and Install Windows Media Player 11 Final Bypass and Crack Genuine Windows Validation

The final gold version 11.0.5721.5145 of Windows Media Player 11 has been released by Microsoft, and Windows users can download Windows Media Player 11 final directly from Microsoft without any WGA validation check and test on Windows OS. However, during installation of WMPlayer 11, there is still Windows Genuine Advantage Validation check required on Windows OS that you plan to install WMP11. If you unable to pass the validation verification, the following tricks and hacks may help you to install Windows Media Player 11.

Method 1
The easiest way to install Windows Media Player 11, and as with Internet Explorer 7 final version, is to patch the Windows registry with WPA hack, as described in ways to bypass validation during installation in IE7 and in method 15 to crack and disable WGA validation and notifications in Windows. The trick insert WPA (Windows Product Activation) related activated value into registry to make the Windows as is genuine, licensed and legal. You can copy and paste the following text to a text file and save the file with .reg extension, then double click on it to merge the registry key into registry, or simply download the wpa_registry.rar or WindowsLicense.rar (removed due to complaint from Microsoft, both has same function) and execute the .reg file contained in the archive to apply the WPA registry setting. Download and install the Windows Media Player 11 once the registry is hacked.

Note: WordPress may automatically change the quotation mark to opening and closing quotation marks, which may cause problem in registration file. If so, replace with ordinary quotation file.

Method 2

The other method of install and setup WMP11 bypassing and disable the genuine Windows validation of WGA is to install components of WMPlayer part by part.

  1. Download WMP11.

  2. Extract (unrar or unzip) wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe by using extraction tool such as WinRAR.

  3. Go to the extracted folder, and execute (run) wmfdist11.exe.

  4. Restart the computer.

  5. Execute wmp11.exe.

  6. Restart the computer.

  7. Start using Windows Media Player 11.

Method 3

This step involves usage of the cracked LegitLibM.dll, rename from the patched LegitLib.dll used to install beta version of WMP11 skip genuine Windows validation check.

  1. Download WMPlayer11.

  2. Download WinRAR and install WinRAR extraction tool.

  3. Extract the WMP11 installer by using WinRAR or PowerArchiver to a directory (e.g. wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu).

  4. Download LegitLibM.dll (removed due to DMCA complaint from Microsoft) (in RAR format, extract after download) from here.

  5. Copy the extracted LegitLibM.dll to the extracted directory of WMP11 installer.

  6. Overwrite any existing LegitLibM.dll file.

  7. Run setup_wm.exe by double clicking.

  8. Install Windows Media Player 11 Final accordingly.

Method 4

Download and install the patched version of WMP11 setup installer (wmp11.exe) (link removed due to complaints from Micrsoft) which has the cracked LegitLibM.dll. Simply download the run the installer to setup the WMPlayer. If you have WMP10 in your system, use WinRAR to extract the contents of the setup file and manually execute setup_wm.exe.

Method 5 New and Easier

Thanks to z, you can now easily upgrade from Windows Media Player 10 (WMP10) to WMP 11 without any hassle about validation, and without downloading any crack or patch.

If you’ve already installed WM11 go to STEP 2.

STEP 1: Go to the old windows media player (WM10), go to Tools–>Options and click on ‘Check for updates once a day.’ Press Apply and then OK.

After a short time a window appears asking if you want to upgrade to a newer version, click OK. System will download WM11 and and install the Media Player 11. After installation restart your PC.

STEP 2: Click on Start –> Search. Click ‘All files and folders’ then search for LegitLibM.dll. (it’s located in C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player folder.)

After LegitLibM.dll is found, right click and rename it to legitlib.dll.

STEP 3: Run WM11, click on validate, it may say ‘unable to validate’ (but that’s a fake message and WMP11 still works, so just click on OK). Then the program will go on to settings or configuration and after you do that the WMP 11 is ready to be used.

Method 2,3 and 4 above is WMP 11 application specific way to crack and bypass WGA in order to download and install WMP11, while method 1 is the workaround that make your Windows genuine, so there won’t be any restriction on installation of WMP11. There are more ways to legitimate your Windows.

Slipstreaming Windows XP with Service Pack 3 (SP3)

Disclaimer: While I will try and help readers who encounter problems integrating XP with SP3, understand that you proceed at your own risk. Be sure to fully backup everything on your system before wiping it out and reinstalling, whether with an integrated XP SP3 disc or otherwise. Understand that you will need to abide by Microsoft's production activation requirements and that these technologies could require you to activate XP by phone after an OS reinstall. Be prepared to go back to your previous XP Setup CD if things don't work out. If you go into this with the right frame of mind, the worst case scenario is that you have to install a fresh copy of XP with SP2 and then immediately install SP3 afterwards. That's not too horrible.

Prerequisites

This time around, I'm only providing one set of instructions, involving only freely available tools you can readily find online. Here's what you need to make it work.

A Windows XP Home or Professional with SP2 Setup CD. It's possible that an original XP Setup CD or an XP with SP1 Setup CD will work, but I've only tested XP with SP2, both retail and volume license versions of the CD. (You may have luck with OEM CDs from PC makers as well, depending how much the company changed the disc layout.) Full or Upgrade CDs work just fine. Previously splipstreamed discs are fine as well. But I've only tested this with versions of XP that include just a single Setup CD: Media Center and Tablet PC users are out of luck.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 Standalone Updater. This 316 MB file is now available from the Microsoft Web site.

ISO Buster. This useful data recovery tool can be downloaded for free.
ImgBurn. This is an excellent free utility for disc burning.
Other downloads. You may want to be prepared with some other installation files, perhaps on a USB key or burned CD. These files might include drivers particular to your hardware (especially a network driver so you can get online) and the application updates mentioned in Step 6 below.
Be sure to download the XP SP3 standalone installer and download and install ISO Buster and ImgBurn before proceeding.
Important note for Vista users: You can perform these steps in either Windows XP or Windows Vista, your choice. I've done it both ways, but the screen shots here show XP because, well, this is an XP-based process and all. But either OS works fine, with one caveat: For some reason, attempts to slipstreaming volume license versions of Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3 under Windows Vista will not work, resulting in a condition where Product Activiation will not recognize a valid Product Key. To overcome this problem, be sure to run Step 3 with admin privileges, as described in that step. If that doesn't work, simply use XP for the slipstream.
OK, let's get started.

Step 1: Copy the Windows XP Setup CD contents to your hard drive

Open your My Computer (in Vista, Computer) window and navigate to Tools then Folder Options. In the Folder Options dialog, navigate to the View tab and select the option titled "Show hidden files and folders." Then, uncheck the option titled "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)." (Dispense with the Warning dialog that appears.) Click OK to close the Folder Options dialog.

Insert your Windows XP with SP2 Setup CD in the optical drive of your PC and close any auto-run window that appears. In My Computer (or Computer), right-click the optical drive and select Open. Leave the window open with a view of the contents of the Windows XP Setup CD.

Open My Computer again. This time, navigate to the root of the C: drive or another location to which you'd like to save the files you'll eventually integrate with SP3. Create a folder named xp (as in C:\xp). Then, create a second folder named sp3 (as in C:\sp3).

Now, drag and drop the contents of the XP Setup CD into the C:\xp folder.

Step 2: Extract the contents of the XP SP3 updater to your hard drive

Now, you need to extract the SP3 files. While the files are copying between the two locations, copy the Windows XP SP3 standalone installer (typically windowsxp-kb936929-sp3-x86-enu.exe in the US) to C:\sp3. Then, open a command line window (Start, Run, cmd in Windows XP; in Vista, just open the Start Menu and type cmd in Start Menu Search).

Then, using the following commands exactly, navigate to C:\sp3 and extract the files (Note that the text [ENTER] means hit the ENTER key):

cd \ [ENTER]

cd sp3 [ENTER]

windowsxp-kb936929-sp3-x86-enu.exe -x:c:\sp3 [ENTER]

An Extracting Files dialog will come up and display the progress.

When the extraction is done, the following dialog will appear. Press OK to continue.

Inside C:\sp3, you'll see a new folder called i386 that contains the extracted files.

Step 3: Integrate XP with SP3

Now, type the following in the command line window (where [ENTER] means hit the ENTER key):

cd i386 [ENTER]

cd update [ENTER]

update.exe /integrate:c:\xp [ENTER]

Warning: If you are trying to slipstream a volume license version of Windows XP Professional from Windows Vista, the preceding steps need to run as an administrator. To do so, right-click on the desktop and choose New then Shortcut. In the Create Shortcut dialog, paste in the following bolded text: C:\sp3\i386\update\update.exe -s:c:\xp\. Then, click Next, give the Shortcut a name, and click Finish. Run the shortcut by right-clicking it and choosing Run as administrator. Then proceed normally. (Thanks to John Straffin for the tip.)

The Software Installation Wizard will appear and integrate the SP3 files into the XP with SP2 install files.

When the integration is complete, you'll see the following dialog. Click OK to continue.

Close the command line window. (Type exit and then tap Enter.)

Step 4: Extract the XP Setup CD's boot image file

Before you can burn the integrated files to CD, you will have to extract a hidden file found on your XP Setup CD; this file is used to help make your new CD bootable. To do so, you need to use a disc image extractor such as ISOBuster.

With the XP with SP2 Setup CD still in the optical drive, run ISO Buster and choose "Free func. only" from the Registration dialog. You should see something like this:

In the left-side tree view, select Bootable Disc. When you do so, the right side will change and display just a few files. One will be named Microsoft Corporation.img (Figure) (or similar; it will be named something.img): This is the file you need to extract. To do so, right-click and choose Extract Microsoft Corporation.img (Figure). When ISOBuster prompts you, choose to download it to the C:\sp3 folder.

Close ISO Buster.

Step 5: Make a bootable XP SP3 CD

Now it's time to make the bootable XP with SP3 Setup CD. Start Nero Burning ROM and click OK in the Welcome dialog that explains you're using a Trial Version. Burning ROM will start with a New Compilation window open. Select CD-ROM (Boot) from the left side.

Then, in the source section, make sure Image file is selected and then click the Browse button. Navigate to C:\sp3 and then drop down the list box that's currently set to Boot-Image-Files (*IMA) and choose All Files (*.*). The select Microsoft Corporation.img and click OK.

Then, in the Advanced section of the New Compilation window, make sure Enable expert settings (for advanced users only!) is selected and choose No Emulation as Kind of Emulation.

Ensure that 07C0 is the value under Load segment of sectors (hex!). (Which it is by default.)

Change the Number of loaded sectors value from 1 to 4.

When the options in this dialog are configured correctly, it should resemble the following:

Click the New button to close the New Compilation window. The normal Burning ROM UI will appear with a blank compilation on the left and a tree view of your PC's file system on the right.

Using the File Browser tab on the right side, navigate to C:\xp. Then, drag the entire contents of this folder over to the left side of the window. This should take only a few seconds.

Now, taking note of the name of the Windows XP with SP2 Setup CD in Burning ROM's File Browser, rename your CD compilation accordingly. For example, if the name of the disc is WXPVOL_EN, use that. Yours may be different, but I've also found that this step is largely optional; names like WINXPSP3 appear to work fine as well.

Remove your XP Setup CD and then click the Burn button in the Burning ROM toolbar. The Burn Compilation window will appear, as shown below. Check the option titled Finalize disc (No further writing possible!) and then click Burn. Burning ROM will prompt you to insert a blank disc. Any CD-R or CD-RW will do.

Step 6: Test, install it properly, add updates

Once the CD is finished, you should test it. If you have an extra PC to throw at it, that's your best bet. Otherwise, try installing it in a virtual machine with Virtual PC first: Virtual PC is free and provides an excellent environment for testing. You shouldn't wipe out your only PC until you're sure the new disc is going to work.

Do not enter your product key during Setup: I've heard from readers and have read separately online that there is a problem in some cases where Setup will not accept a valid Windows XP Product Key on an integrated XP with SP3 install. For this reason, you should choose not to enter the Product Key until after XP is installed. Obviously, I can't test every possible permutation, but I have successful activated XP integrated with SP3 on my own systems repeatedly in this fashion.

After you've installed your integrated version of Windows XP with Service Pack 3 (SP3), you're going to want to immediately visit Windows Update, upgrade to Microsoft Update, and then install whatever critical updates are available. While that's happening, or after it's completed and you've rebooted as needed, you'll need to download a few other crucial tools. Some obvious candidates include Windows Defender (anti-spyware), AVG Free 8.0 or another anti-virus solution, Internet Explorer 7, and Windows Media Player 11 (which may show up on Windows/Microsoft Update).

When you're done testing, you should consider backing up the newly created CD, and deleting the cruft you've added to your hard drive, specifically the directories C:\xp and C:\sp3.

Final thoughts

Windows XP Service Pack 3 is indeed the end of an era, but your feedback is requested and welcomed, and if you find errors here I will try to fix them. I'd like this guide to remain the definitive resource for people seeking to slipstream Windows XP with Service Pack 3. Happy slipstreaming!

End Program-IEXPLORER.EXE (When shutting down computer)

Have you experience this problem on your computer this message pops up inside a dialog box when you try to shut down your machine.

( End Program - IEXPLORER.EXE Ending Program...Please wait
If you chose to end the program immediately
you will lose any unsaved data. To end the program now, click End Now.) The problem here is the fact that my computer has always shut down properly, usually within 20
seconds.

I had that trouble last week ago and i try to surf to the internet for a answer, and I found this article or forum.
  1. Ran Spybot S&D or Ad-Aware to see if spyware is keeping IE "open"?

If there was no issue or if your computer is ad-ware free..
do this step...

Navigate to the following Registry key:

HKEY CURRENT USER\Control Panel\Desktop
Double click on the AutoEndTasks entry and replace the 0 with a 1 in the Value data text box

In the same registry location, on the right side if the value doesn't already exist add the Dword value: WaitToKillAppTimeout and give it a value of 2000

Then go to H_K_L_M / System / ControlSet001 / Control / and again if it doesn't exist create the Dword WaitToKillServiceTimeout and give it a value of 2000

Then do a Registry Search for both of those DWord values and wherever they appear change the value to 2000

Reboot your computer still the problem there?

Reboot again...

Thats it.
